Introduction of Rasa Shastra Department.(Pharmaceutical Science)

        Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics) deals mainly with the drugs of herbal and mineral origin, their varieties, characteristics, processing techniques, properties and their therapeutic uses along with the descriptions of various apparatus, different kinds of furnaces, heating devices and heating schedules.The pharmaceutical procedure of any drug involve various steps starting from identification and collection of authentic raw material, application of standardized processing techniques and production of quality drug to packing and storage of produced drugs.
        The department of Rasa-Shastra came in to existence in the year 2001. The department is spread over an area of 350 Sq. meters. From its commencement it is engaged in the teaching and evaluation of the Ayurvedic drugs to improve their quality.



Departmental Features

       The department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya kalpana is well equipped with experimental laboratory, Teaching Pharmacy, Digital Library, Various models etc.Teaching Programmes of the Department.
         1.  M.D. (RSBK)- 2014 ( 6 intake).
         2.  PhD – 2020 (8 ).
UG and PG students involved in drug manufacturing. In teaching pharmacy, various products like Chavanprash avleh, Oils, Powders, seasonal product like Abhyang tail, Utane etc prepared following standard operating & manufacturing procedures and supplied to Eknath Rugnalaya. The main aim of pharmacy is to provide cost effective and quality ayurvedic products to patients.

         2. Providing quality pharmaceutical education and Research in response to changing needs of ayurvedic drug industry and society through a flexible and innovative teaching.
